You won't want to miss a morning of racing legend Bobby Rahal at the 2008 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard, presented by ProLiance energy. The 500 Festival will welcome mayors from all across Indiana to celebrate this annual event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This year's event features open wheel racing champion, team owner and 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal as the guest speaker. Breakfast at the Brickyard takes place on Saturday, May 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Plaza Pavilion.
Bobby Rahal is a three-time CART Series (now Champ Car) champion, including his 1986 Indianapolis 500 win. He concluded his distinguished 17-year Champ Car World Series driving career in 1998 with 24 career victories and 18 pole positions.
Rahal is the co-owner of Rahal Letterman Racing, in partnership with David Letterman. His team won the Indianapolis 500 in 2004 with a car driven by Buddy Rice. That same year, Rahal was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
Rahal will speak on the topic of ethanol fuel and take part in a Q&A session hosted by veteran motorsports commentator Bob Jenkins. Guests will enjoy a hearty Hoosier breakfast, the opportunity to see the crowning of the 2008 500 Festival Queen crowned, take a lap around the famed oval in their own vehicle, tour the garages and experience the third day of qualifying for the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500.
Jenkins will serve as the event’s master of ceremonies. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will salute Hoosier mayors from across the state in attendance in celebration of the month of May in Indiana. The 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard, presented by ProLiance Energy is sponsored by Ice Miller, AAA Hoosier Motor Club, Charter One Bank, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, WIBC and WTHR Channel 13.
