
Marketing Internship, Spring 2012
40 hours per week requested
January 9 – June 1, 2012
Supervisor: Dana Rantovich, Vice-President of Marketing
The ideal candidate for this position will possess proficient graphic design skills, organizational skills, creativity, initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks for various 500 Festival departments. The candidate shall excel in teamwork and creative collaboration with both external partners and internal departments and demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and customer service. The candidate must be flexible and willing to put in additional hours as needed prior to and especially during the month of May for all 500 Festival events. Marketing, Communications, or Journalism major is preferred, along with knowledge of AP style, graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), effective branding practices and photography.
The candidate must also be flexible and willing to put in additional hours as needed prior to and especially during the month of May for all of the 500 Festival events. This would include the ability to work up to 14 hours per day and 80 hours per week during peak event times.
Special note:
Manual labor will be involved in this job, so please be sure you are able and willing to do manual labor before responding to this opportunity. Examples include moving water containers, large signs, tables, chairs and other event type items.
Specific responsibilities:
Assist with marketing campaigns including merchandising, media partnerships, advertising and promotion and ticket marketing.
Learning objectives: Initiative, marketing/branding, external partner relations and community relations
Assist in the creation and routing of marketing collateral and budget updates.

Attend and provide support for all 500 Festival events.
Learning objectives: Event planning, problem-solving, photography and interpersonal skills
Stipend:
The intern will receive a monthly stipend of $800 per month for a 40 hour work week. Any hours worked under a 40 hour work week will be rated using the above scale.

College credit:
The 500 Festival will work with any educational institution to ensure that the intern receives proper credit for their experience. This includes any forms, documentation or correspondence with the internship coordinator that is required or necessary.
