
Sponsorship Internship, Spring 2012
25 hours per week requested January – April
40 hours per week requested May and June
January 9 – June 29, 2012

The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong communication, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. This position also requires the ability to take initiative and work independently in many different areas. Any experience with sponsorship or similar areas is ideal but not necessary. Marketing, Hospitality Management or Sales and Management majors preferred.
The candidate must also be flexible and willing to put in additional hours during peak event times during the entire month of May, with an understanding that this position is a little longer than the typical internship position.
Special note:
Manual labor will be involved in this job, so please be sure you are able and willing to do manual labor before responding to this opportunity. Examples include moving water containers, large signs, tables, chairs and other event type items.
Specific responsibilities:
Help to create a positive event experience for all sponsors at all festival events.
Learning Outcomes: Teamwork and interpersonal skills
Assist in creating and maintaining accurate sponsor records and database.
Learning Outcomes: Database management, attention to detail and creativity
Corporate sponsorship and membership sales support for 2011.
Learning Outcomes: Communication Skills, Problem-Solving and Leadership
Manage logistics for specific Festival events.
Learning Outcomes: Organization and communication skills
Develop and disseminate on-going communication with sponsors.
Learning Outcomes: Writing skills and organization
Researching ideas of how to market the Festival to corporations.
Learning Outcomes: Creativity and Teamwork
Stipend:
The intern will receive a monthly stipend of $500 per month for a 25 hour work week. The intern will receive $800 per month when working 40 hours per month in May and June. Any hours worked under the given work week will be rated using the above scale.

College credit:
The 500 Festival will work with any educational institution to ensure that the intern receives proper credit for their experience. This includes any forms, documentation or correspondence with the internship coordinator that is required or necessary.
