Float: “POWERING THE CELEBRATIONS FOR 100 RACES”

Description: IPL’s float put race fans smack dab in the center of the action! It featured a recreation of the IMS Scoring Pylon as well as one of IPL’s first line trucks. All parts of the floats were strung together by power lines, reminding us that IPL has been powering the celebration for 100 races.
QUEEN’S AWARD: Most Effective Use of Color Harmony
Float: “140 YEARS OF CARING AND DISCOVERY”

Description: Celebrating 140 years of Lilly’s commitment to the betterment of lives, the float’s design took spectators through 140 years of groundbreaking global medical innovations with larger than life chemists depicting some Eli Lilly’s remarkable discoveries.
THEME AWARD: Best Development of 500 Festival Theme, “Experience the Celebration”
Float: “CELEBRATION OF FIRESTONE CHAMPIONS”
Description: Firestone’s float and racing went hand-in-hand as their performance driven tires have been used in a variety of racing vehicles for decades. Firestone has made 67 champions at the Indy 500, and this float celebrated all of them by showcasing four iconic winners of this race.

Float: “STRENGTH IN PARTNERSHIP - 100 YEARS YOUNG”

Description: The first float in Parade history to be built to accommodate 100 year-old riders and their caregivers, the Golden Living and Hendricks Regional Health float showcased that age is just a number. Whether you’re 10 or 100 years young, you can achieve wellness.
CHAIRMAN’S AWARD: Best Display of Humor
Float: “WINNERS CELEBRATE WITH MILK”
Sponsor: American Dairy Association Indiana, Inc.
Description: Winners drink milk and the American Dairy Association knows this best as they prepared to host the World’s Largest Milk toast at the 100th running of the Indy 500. The custom built float celebrated this longstanding tradition in its design.

Float: HOT WHEELS: RACE TO WIN

Description: This float boasted an oversized version of the classic orange Hot Wheels track! Additionally, it featured a giant IndyCar, that was “Racing to Win,” at the end of the larger-than-life Hot Wheel track- just like the one at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Description: On the USS Anthem Angels, all five branches of the military - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard - were represented. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield was proud to recognize those who protect and defend our country, especially the many Hoosiers who serve in the United States Armed Forces.

Description: This larger-than-life Indy car measured nearly 40 feet long and was a replica of Rick Mears’ winning car from the 68th running of the Indianapolis 500 in 1984.

Description: The float featured Legion Family members from the Department of Indiana, escorting a special American Flag, named “Old Glory”. This flag is on a world tour called “Old Glory Travels America’s Freedom Road” to honor the service and sacrifice of those who served our country in the past and who serve today.

Description: This float brought the epic celebration of the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 to the IPL 500 Festival Parade route. The nearly 57 foot long float boasted a scaled replica of the Pagoda overlooking the famed yard of bricks - complete with two IndyCars racing to the finish.
