Entertainers invited to serve as motivation for participants in 2013 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon

INDIANAPOLIS (January 16, 2013) – Entertainers are needed for one of the largest four-hour music festivals in the nation, and the 500 Festival is now accepting applications. Bands, DJs and dance troupes will entertain runners and walkers and cheer them to the finish line of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Finish Line 500 Festival 5K.
Live entertainment will provide motivation for participants making their way through the 13.1-mile course on Saturday, May 4. Last year nearly 100 groups performed along the course of the nation’s largest half-marathon.
The application deadline for those who would like to participate in this year’s entertainment line-up is April 1, 2013. Space is limited, so the 500 Festival encourages those interested to apply early.
Along with performing in front of the 35,000 participants of the Mini-Marathon and 4,000 participants of the 5K, all entertainers will have:
- Group name and link website listed on www.500festival.com
- Group name listed in “Thank You” ad placed in local newspaper
- Tickets to an Indianapolis 500® Practice Day
- Certificate of Participation
- Opportunity to place personal signage at each entertainer’s performance location

OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon
Registrations are still available to participate in the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Finish Line 500 Festival 5K on May 4. Registration will close when the maximum field of 35,000 participants is reached for the Mini and 4,000 for the 5K. The Mini has sold out the past 11 years. The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is sponsored by OneAmerica, Finish Line, Franciscan St. Francis Health and Marsh.
The mission of the 500 Festival is to advocate and celebrate the spirit, heritage and legacy of the Indianapolis 500®. Through social, cultural and educational events and programs, the 500 Festival enhances the quality of life for all citizens of our communities.
The 500 Festival, a not-for-profit volunteer organization, was created in 1957 to organize civic events celebrating the greatest race in the world. Over the past 56 years, the 500 Festival has grown to become one of the largest festivals in the nation.
Last year, more than 500,000 Hoosiers and visitors participated in nearly 50 events and programs throughout the month of May. Whether they were athletes running the Mini-Marathon, fourth grade students participating in the Education Program, families enjoying the state’s largest festival for kids or spectators being dazzled by one of the nation’s premier parades, they were there celebrating the legacy.
