Essay Contest

The winner of the 2015 Education Program Essay Contest is Abby Wulf from Central Catholic School. The 500 Festival received more than 1,000 entries from fourth grade students across the state who were enrolled in the 500 Festival & Indianapolis 500® Education Program, presented by Indiana University Health.

The prompt for the essay contest asked students to imagine that they had been invited to ride along with the honorary 2015 pace car driver. They were then asked to write a story sharing their experience on race day.

For her outstanding essay, Abby Received a 500 Festival gift pack that  included four tickets to the IPL 500 Festival Parade and four tickets to the Indianapolis 500. Julie Bauman, fourth grade teacher at Central Catholic School, also received two qualification tickets and two tickets to the IPL 500 Festival Parade.

Whitney Willett from Monrovia Elementary and Trent Brauer from Towne Meadow Elementary were the runners-up and each received a 500 Festival gift pack. All student participants received a signed Hero Card from an IndyCar driver.
